The statistics are spine-chilling: 85% of all death penalties are carried out in “only” three countries. Other figures, however, are more encouraging: 2/3 of countries worldwide have already abolished the death penalty after years of communication campaigns. This also happens to be the aim of Amnesty International Belgium’s latest campaign, which illustrates these “mortal”/“deadly” statistics via three visuals that represent the death penalty carried out by hanging, the electric chair and shooting. The campaign was developed as small posters (Dazibao) and press ads. The goal is to raise awareness and to encourage people to help reduce the statistics by signing the online petition.
